The journey that Jacinta undertakes and that we follow in every detail throughout the pages of the book is not just to move from Nicaragua to the United States in search of a better life. That is the external journey, the geographical one.
There are two other journeys, both of internal growth, one, which allows her, despite the fear, the doubts, and the countless complications she encounters, to move forward in pursuit of her goals, and the other, which allows her, despite the harm she has received, the mistreatment, the profound injustice that has marked her life, to let go of resentment and be able to see beyond the emotional anchor that she always carried with her.
Accompanied by endearing characters, she meets bad people who want to hurt her but also meets very good people who, in one way or another, help her. However, the main help comes from her courage and determination to have a better life.
